PHNOM PENH, Sept. 21, 2026 (AKP) — A Cambodian business delegation led by Pinex Agro Co., Ltd. has concluded a multi-country trade mission to Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria, seeking to expand Cambodia’s trade and investment ties with Europe, including the European Union (EU).

The mission aimed to assess business and investment environments, explore market demand, examine EU logistics and packaging standards, and establish direct trade links between Cambodian businesses and European buyers and investors.

The Bulgarian leg was coordinated by Cambodian Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, in cooperation with M3 Group and regional industry partners, as part of efforts to translate diplomatic relations into commercial partnerships, trade flows and foreign direct investment.

In Sofia, the delegation held a business session with M3 Group, which facilitated connections with Bulgarian institutions and commercial entities. H.E. Ty Nitor, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, joined the proceedings via video conference alongside private-sector representatives and trade experts.

Earlier, on Sept. 15, Ty Nitor led a Cambodian delegation, including representatives of UNI Holding and the Investors, Innovation, and Development Association, in separate working meetings with officials from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The meetings in Bucharest brought together Romanian business representatives from agricultural processing, logistics and digital technology sectors. Ms. Pin Phirom, Director General of UNI Holding and Executive Director of Pinex Agro, also participated.

Phirom said direct engagement with European buyers and investors could help Cambodian producers secure better prices and expand their market reach by reducing reliance on intermediaries.

“ If we can reach the buyers or investors directly, it will be more profitable for us, and our market reach can be wider than relying on middlemen,” she said, explaining the rationale for undertaking the mission with Cambodian leadership.

The trade mission reflects Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy and create direct business connections that could support export growth, investment, and greater access to European markets.
