February 2, 2026— H.E. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, chaired an inter-ministerial commission meeting to review the implementation of the National Policy on Cashews 2022–2027. The meeting brought together representatives from the Cashew Federation of Cambodia and provincial governors, who joined via video conference.
The session focused on reviewing and approving the draft Mid-term Evaluation Report on the policy’s implementation, as well as discussing mechanisms to further strengthen and accelerate progress toward the policy’s objectives.
Minister Cham Nimul praised the positive results of the monitoring and evaluation process and highlighted the strong cooperation among inter-ministerial bodies, relevant institutions, the private sector, and development partners. She emphasized that significant progress has been achieved during the first two years of implementation, reflecting effective coordination and commitment across stakeholders.
Mr. Suy Kokthean, Vice President of the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC), noted that Cambodia is steadily advancing toward its goal of processing 25 percent of total cashew production by 2027. “We are seeing various activities driving Cambodia toward this target, and the majority of our action plans have already surpassed 60 percent completion,” he said.
The National Policy on Cashews 2022–2027 aims to develop a competitive cashew sector by strengthening production, processing, and market access while ensuring sustainability and supporting economic diversification. The policy serves as a strategic roadmap to expand market reach, support farmers, and enhance agricultural productivity, with a particular focus on increasing domestic processing to add value and boost export capacity.
According to the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia, the country earned approximately $1.5 billion from the export of around 1 million tons of raw cashew nuts in 2025, representing a 27 percent increase compared to 2024—underscoring the growing importance of the cashew sector to Cambodia’s national economy.
