KAMPONG CHHNANG, August 30, 2026 — The Kampong Chhnang Provincial Branch of the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC), in collaboration with ROHAT AGROTECH Co., Ltd., organized a farmer training workshop on “New Techniques for Increasing Cashew Yields” at Kampong Chhnang Provincial Hall on August 30.

The training brought together 36 cashew farmers from Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Kandal and Phnom Penh, providing participants with practical knowledge on improving cashew production, managing crops under changing climate conditions and reducing production costs.

On this occasion, the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia extends its sincere gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Kampong Chhnang Province, for permitting CAC to host its workshop within the administrative building of the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Hall. This arrangement underscores the commitment to supporting cashew farmers within the province. The Association respectfully offers its highest regards to Your Excellency.

Focus on Modern Cashew Production Techniques

The workshop was designed to provide farmers with new knowledge and practical techniques for more effective cashew plantation management.

Experts and guest speakers shared information on the efficient use of fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural equipment, with a particular focus on improving productivity while minimizing unnecessary costs and input losses.

Key topics included the use of agricultural equipment to improve work efficiency, proper techniques for mixing chemical sprays, and the application of technology in cashew plantation management.

Participants also learned techniques for promoting new shoot flushing and managing cashew trees according to different stages of crop development. The training emphasized the importance of applying fertilizers and agricultural chemicals according to the actual needs of the crop rather than using inputs indiscriminately.

Another major topic was the introduction of Highly Effective Micro-organism (HEM) fertilizer, including its potential use in improving fertilizer efficiency and reducing losses.

Farmers Gain Practical Knowledge

The training also provided farmers with practical knowledge that they can apply directly in their plantations.

Participants learned about water pH levels and their importance when mixing and applying agricultural chemicals, as well as the appropriate use of HEM fertilizer and precautions when combining it with weed-control products.

The workshop also covered proper methods for applying HEM fertilizer around the base of cashew trees and the use of fertilizers during the shoot-flushing period to support healthy tree development.

Farmers were introduced to different nutritional fertilizers and supplements that can be applied according to the growth stage and requirements of cashew trees.

In addition to technical presentations, participants benefited from practical experiences shared by technicians and experienced cashew farmers.

Climate Change Remains a Major Challenge

The workshop highlighted climate change as one of the major challenges facing Cambodia’s cashew farmers.

Changes in weather conditions can affect shoot development, flowering, fruit development and overall cashew yields. Farmers therefore need to adapt their production practices and improve their understanding of crop management under changing climatic conditions.

Participants also noted that some farmers continue to face difficulties in accessing accurate and reliable technical information.

Improper use of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals without sufficient technical knowledge can also increase production costs, cause financial losses and reduce overall farm efficiency.

CAC Expands Farmer Support

The organizers said the workshop was successfully completed and provided farmers with useful knowledge and experience in modern cashew production.

The training is expected to help farmers apply improved crop-care techniques, use fertilizers and agricultural chemicals more efficiently, adopt appropriate technologies and reduce production costs while improving yields.

The knowledge gained is also expected to provide a practical foundation for helping farmers adapt their plantations to climate change and improve household incomes.

Silot Uon, CAC president, said the initiative demonstrates its continued commitment to supporting cashew farmers across Cambodia.

Importantly, the August 30 training marked the first time the CAC has organized this type of farmer-training program in Kampong Chhnang province. Silot noted that financial constraints had previously limited its ability to conduct such activities, making the launch of the training an important step in expanding technical support to farmers beyond Cambodia’s major cashew-producing areas.

The CAC and its provincial branches are expected to continue seeking opportunities to provide farmers with practical technical knowledge and strengthen cooperation with agricultural technology companies and other private-sector partners.
