Kampong Thom, May 1, 2026 — The International Business Chamber Cambodia (IBC) recently led its members on a field visit to Kampong Thom province, offering business leaders and industry stakeholders an exclusive firsthand look into Cambodia’s rapidly expanding cashew sector.
The visit provided participants with a rare opportunity to observe the complete cashew production chain—from plantation cultivation to processing facilities where cashew fruits are transformed into the final edible nut for domestic and international markets.
Organizers said the initiative aimed to deepen understanding of Cambodia’s agricultural production systems, the potential for value-added processing, and investment opportunities within the country’s emerging cashew industry.
The field trip was hosted and guided by Kokthean Suy, Vice President of the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC), who walked participants through cashew plantations and processing operations in Kampong Thom.
Participants were also given insights into supply chain development and value-added production models, while networking with fellow business leaders and agricultural stakeholders.
In a related industry engagement, IBC also joined the Supply Chain Working Group’s field trip to TL Agri Food Import Export Co., Ltd in Kampong Cham province. The visit focused on Cambodia’s growing agro-processing capabilities and included discussions on plantation management, processing standards, and expanding export markets.
The program also featured direct insights from Cambodian business leader Oknha Ty Leang regarding opportunities and challenges within the agricultural export sector.
According to unofficial export data from the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia, the country exported approximately 361,446 tonnes of raw cashew nuts to Vietnam during the first quarter of 2026. The shipments generated an estimated $630 million in export value, a 24.61 percent increase over the same period last year.
Despite the strong export performance, Silot Uon, President of the CAC, urged stakeholders to remain cautiously optimistic about the sector’s outlook.
Industry observers note that while Cambodia’s cashew industry continues to grow rapidly and attract increasing international attention, challenges related to logistics, processing capacity, and market stability remain significant for long-term sustainability.
The field visit reflects growing interest from both domestic and international business communities in Cambodia’s cashew industry, which is increasingly viewed as one of the country’s most promising agricultural export sectors.
