Phnom Penh, March 19, 2026 — Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) convened its Annual Conference on Thursday to review sector performance in 2025 and outline strategic priorities for 2026, under the chairmanship of H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
The event brought together key stakeholders from across the agriculture sector, including the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC), which was invited to participate.
Focus on Policy Implementation and Rural Development
In his keynote address, Minister Dith Tina highlighted progress in implementing the government’s 5th- and 6th-priority policies, particularly in areas such as price stability, the development of modern agricultural communities, and the deployment of commune-level agricultural officers.
He emphasized that these initiatives represent significant and timely investments by the Royal Government aimed at improving rural livelihoods, strengthening local economies, and ensuring long-term agricultural resilience.
Advancing Administrative Reform and Innovation
The Minister also underscored ongoing efforts to reform public administration within the sector. This includes a comprehensive review of institutional functions and operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
A key outcome of these reforms is the establishment of the Cambodia Academy of Agricultural Sciences under MAFF. The institution is designed to consolidate human resources and research capabilities, fostering innovation and strengthening research and development (R&D) to support modern agricultural practices.
Call for Collaboration and Results-Oriented Action
Looking ahead, Minister Dith Tina called on participants to actively contribute insights and recommendations based on their experiences in 2025. He stressed the importance of turning policy reforms into tangible outcomes in the coming year.
“2026 must be a year of results,” he noted, aligning with the government’s broader vision of “Food Security, Sustainability, Prosperity, and Continuity.”
The conference signals Cambodia’s continued commitment to transforming its agriculture sector through policy reform, innovation, and strengthened collaboration between government and industry stakeholders.
